Fantaschtic New Year with Incognito

Hi, it's Emily here! Now that we're winding down from Christmas festivities, it's time to think about New Year's projects. I made this with late holiday cards in mind.  It's the perfect transition from Christmas to New Year's since I tend to procrastinate a little too much and not get my holiday cards in the mail on time. ;)

I created a custom sentiment using words from both Incognito and Merry Motifs. I love the boldness and shine of the heat embossed glasses and moustache against the kraft base.

The main image is embellished with a Santa hat from Merry Motifs(Motif Icons) and mittens from Freezy Fellas (Fellas Icons). The martini is from Free Spirits Icons and the stars on the white frame are from All Yule Need.

I hope this jumpstarts your creative spark for the New Year. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Quick & Easy Holiday Tags and Treat Boxes

Hi, it's Emily here! These are the tags and treat boxes I made with my son's class last week. Each student made their own sentiment tags and coloured in the image of their choice. They also customized their packaging with a sparkly snowflake, string and pillow box. Every gift turned out so cute and I wish I had remembered to photograph them all together!

Originally, my son didn't want to do any voiceover work for this video but after watching me edit the video, he decided he had to pop in here and there. I was thrilled, especially since I know you all love him so much! :D

This first sample uses a sentiment from Holly Jolly on a tag from Gift Tags 1 and the girl elf from Enchanted Elves and Elf Icons. When it came time to giving it away, I did include a large sparkly red snowflake between the two tags.

The Hanukkah sample uses a sentiment from Kibitzing Sampler and dreidels from Kibitzing Icons on a tag die cut from the original Stitched Tag. Here, you can see the large gold snowflake that wasn't shown in the video.

My final sample is more generic and uses a sentiment from Christmas Sampler and a snowman from Freezy Fellas and Fellas Icons. Below is the stack of holiday books we personally addressed with Christmas Sampler and Merry Motifs.

It's so easy to make extras to have on hand for friends and family who pop in unexpectedly over the holidays. I hope you're all ready for Christmas! A cute little boy in my family is counting down the days 'til Santa arrives. ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by during this busy holiday season!

Coffee & Tea Dies

Hi, it's Emily here with a heart-warmer featuring the new Coffee & Tea dies. I thought they'd be perfect in the hands of the Snowman dies! Aren't those mugs the cutest?

I die cut the hill into the card base using the Stitched dies. Then I created a mask with the Quotables dies and sponged the light of dawn at the horizon, just like in the Universal Studios logo. It provides a nice contrast for all the white and highlights the mugs.

After assembling the snowmen, I stamped the sentiment from A Holy Holiday and heat embossed steam from Fresh Snow behind the mugs. The snowmen were then adhered to the card base with foam tape.

Birthday Shaker Card with the Paper Smooches/Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Stamp Set

My neighbour's youngest turned one this weekend so I decided to ink up the Paper Smooches Stamptember Exclusive, only available at Simon Says Stamp. This set has the most adorable dog and turtle! I'm sure you've seen the turtle used a few times so I decided to feature the cute little dog on rubble, created with the festive dots.

All of the patterned paper is from Crate Paper's Notes & Things 6x6 paper pad. I stamped the dog four times on two different sheets and pieced him together.

The shaker balloon is from the Big Balloons dies and the small, striped one is from the original Balloons dies. The two sentiments featured in the Stamptember Exclusive were too big for my design so I used the 'celebrate' word from Hullabaloo.

I love that this stamp set could be used for so many celebratory occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, New Year's and even a new pet.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Technically... there are 4 tags in this photo... but three really different ideas:)

Truth be told... I only created 3 different versions of this Christmas tag because I thought the first one was WAY TOO SIMPLE! And then I added a small detail and then another... LOL!

Here's the video *****Be sure to change your settings to HD before watching! THANKS!

Paper Smooches Sponsored Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Welcome to Amy Tsuruta's Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! If you know Amy, you know that her first love is coffee. Haha! Whenever I see coffee stamps, dies, paper or embellishments, I think of Amy! I met Amy in blogland a few years ago and discovered that she is originally from Toronto. Woot! She's a big star in this industry and I'm thrilled to call her my friend. This one's for you, Amy!

I started by creating a background on the card base using two sizes of stitched squares from the Stitched Frames die collection. Then I die cut, stamped and coloured the elf from Enchanted Elves (Elf Icons) and the takeout coffee cup from Warm Hearts (Warm Hearts Icons).

The sentiment is also from Enchanted Elves but any number of sentiments would've worked with these images. To create the steam rising from the coffee cup, I used the ends of a finely scripted die from the Hello Words die collection.

To play along, head over to Amy's blog to link up your project and leave comments on all the participants' blogs to be eligible for a bunch of incredible prizes, including one from Paper Smooches!

Thanks so much for hopping with us!

Flash Cards featuring Gift Tags 2

Hi, it's Emily here! I used the Gift Tags 2 dies to create a set of flash cards for my son who spent the first two weeks of grade one studying math basics. My mom used to have me recite the multiplication tables (yes, all 12) before bed every night. Once memorized, math becomes super easy, and that is the point of these flash cards. By making math fun and cute, kids will definitely want to use these for learning.

They also studied different ways to make ten, i.e. 1+9=10, 2+8=10, 3+7=10, 4+6=10, 5+5=10. I'll be adding those to the next stack of flash cards.

As explained in the video, the cover cards are double-layered so that all the character and star dies are inlaid. Each set of flash cards can be combined with the cover cards and used to section off different sets or they can be used separately with their own book rings.

I used the following stamp sets and dies to create these cover cards: (red) Smarty PantsSmarty Pants IconsStarsUplifters; (orange) Great ChemistryGreat Chemistry IconsStarsUplifters; and (yellow) SuperSuper 1StarsSmarty Pants. All of the stamp sets that were used for the flash cards themselves are listed on my blog.

For the past six weeks, my son's class has been doing Spell Well tests so these flash cards could be used to practice spelling words as well. At some point in the future, these could be also used as gift tags or embellishments on a greeting card. Awesome, right? ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by!
